NUCJP
The men of Phi Mu Alpha sponsor the Northwestern University Community Jazz Program (NUCJP) for all students on campus. Whether their skills range from jazz prodigies to amateurs looking to get their feet wet, students have the opportunity to play with other students that share a passion for jazz. NUCJP provides students the opportunity to play in both a big band and/or a jazz combo setting.

About
Started in 2008 by the brothers of Phi Mu Alpha’s Iota chapter with the intent of providing students and other members of the Northwestern community to play jazz in a low stress and friendly environment. NUCJP offers players the opportunity to play in either a big band or jazz combo setting. NUCJP welcomes anyone looking for an outlet to play jazz, whether you’re a regular Glen Miller or just looking for your first jazz experience NUCJP has a place for you.
NUCJP hosts 2 big bands and numerous combos to fulfill everyone’s needs. All bands use Phi Mu Alpha (626 Emerson) for rehearsals through out the year. Combos perform for both the NU community as well as for the larger Evanston and Chicago area. Phi Mu Alpha also hosts quarterly “Combo Performance Nights”, providing snacks and refreshments for guests as combos swing through the night. NUCJP & Phi Mu Alpha also organizes an end of the year bash during spring quarter with an outdoor BBQ, while both big bands and various jazz combos perform.
