Auditions
NUCJP auditions are held normally during the first month of Winter Quarter. Auditions are for placement only and no one gets cut from the program.

We do not prepared selections for non-traditional jazz instruments, e.g. horn, harmonica, violin, etc. However, we welcome people playing any instrument to come audition! If you choose to audition on an instrument that has no part below, you can play any combination of the following: one of the parts below on your instrument, a prepared selection, improv over a 12-bar blues.
Vocalists: Vocalists are welcome to audition for the NUCJP. If you would like to audition to sing with either a big band or a combo, your audition will consist of a prepared selection of your choice (in a jazz style) and/or improvising over a 12-bar blues.

All linked files can be downloaded in a pdf format, click on the links and download the file. Please disregard the actual filenames and use the link names to pick your desired part. The parts that you will audition on are bracketed within the music. If you wish to audition for lead trumpet or lead trombone there’s supplementary music that you must perform.
